In the experiment plates that separate we found out how mid ocean spreading of tectonic plates. We also found out how mid ocean ridges spreading relates to earthquakes and formation of new rocks.
The aim of the experiment was to see the movement of of convection currents. We found out that when the water temperatre was hot the pottassium moved around in a circlar motion while when the water temperature was cold the pottasium just sunk and fell to the bottom of the beaker.

1. Likes and dislikes of this project…..any suggestions on how to improve???
I liked the fact were we weren’t restricted to a certain method of presentations. I disliked all the journals. We should have less journals and more help on them.
2. What areas do you think you have improved in from project 1 to project 4?
Presentation skills have improved, computer skills have improved, PBL methods have improved and basically everything is slowly getting better.
3. What further skills would you like to develop over the next few projects?
I think that I need to improve my presentation skills also researching things more throughly than I have been doing.
Investigate the two types of sight defect- long-sightedness and short sightedness.

Long sightedness
a. what causes the defect
Long sightedness has many different causes with the main one being generics. Other causes are diabetes, microphthalma.
b. the symptoms displayed
The main symptoms of long sightedness are persistent headaches, eyestrain, excessive blinking and dislike or avoidance of reading.
c. propose what sort of lens may be used to correct each vision.
The lens is a convex lens. A convex lens is chosen because it moves the image of a distant object forward onto the retina.
Short-sightedness

It has a wide range of causes. The main ones are genetics and also sitting close to the tv.
b. the symptoms displayed
The main symptoms are squinting and eyestrain.
c. propose what sort of lens may be used to correct each vision
The type of lens that is needed a concave lenses because this will suit the needed requirements.
What influences your values about issues relating to your life?
Well I have to say this project has really made me think and I realize that the media has a big influence on my life. Also my parent’s views on the matter also give me a stepping stone to my views, although sometimes my views on things are totally different to theirs.
Do you ever compare images/values presented by the media to those of the bible? If so why? If not why not?
I do not compare the images/values presented by the media to the bible. The main reason for this is that I am non-catholic. Also when I am reading the newspaper for example I don’t remember about any of the bible passages.
Has this project challenged you to examine your values? Why / Why not
Yes definitely i believe that this project has changed my values. When I watch the news it really relates to the project and I do not believe everything I see or hear on it. I really look closer at the issue and see the flaws in it.
What have you learnt?
I have learnt that the media and our environment change our views on the world. Also you should not judge person from how they look or and still be sad on the inside what they have. Also you can have all the money in the world .
What have you learnt about thinking for yourself?
Basically when your asked and given time to really think hard, you come up with so much better answers and actually learn a lot more. It gives you a lot of freedom as well because you are not made to think one certain way like the rest of the class. Overall I’ve learnt that if you put in the hard thinking time the work will come out 10 times better.

I believe this media account is correct and reliable. The reason for this is i have read other stories on this and the are much the same. Also there is not much in this story that you can change.

A couple of things i learnt in this lesson includes how the media minipulate a story and plublish this to the general public. Also when this false information is published by the media e.g newspaper, the public take this information as true and the story gets more and more out of context.
2. Identify TWO areas you want to concentrate on during this project that you think need a greater improvement from the last project.
I think one area that i need to improve is how we refer to the need to know list. I think as a group we need look at the need to know list and find out all the information that we need to know. Also i need to improve on my journals, writing more extensivly and not just doing it to get it done actually doing it to learn of it.
3. Discuss TWO ways in which your group could resolve any disputes during this process.
The main thing to resolve any disputes is to make an appropriate group contract and also always refer to this when there is a breach of rule etc. Also make sure the appropriate consquences occur. One other thing is to not look down on others if you think they are not as smart you etc. Give them fair chance to prove yourself.
What did you like about the wikispaces project? Explain.
The wikispaces project wasn’t bad. It was a bit boring just uploading all of the work to wikispaces and not using much of our computer skills.
What did you NOT like about the wikispace project? Explain.
That we didnt use much of our computer skills.
What did you find hard about working in groups?
Sometimes you get people that dont do enough work. Also sometimes you have to work with people you do not get along with, but now im getting used to it a bit.
How did the wikispace keep everyone in your team accountable?
With the wikispace, when you upload yout work and edit page, the wikispace has a history. So you can tell if someone didnt do there work and you can message them using wikispace.
How could you improve your presentation?
We could of been more organised with our powerpoint and our speech. Also practise as a group a few times before the presentation.
